On July 13th it was noticed by an employee that mildew had begun to form on the ceiling tiles in the peak of the cafeteria ceiling. We believed the cause of this event was the failure of the powered ventilator fans.

We immediately began plans to make the needed repairs. Plans included the hiring of an environmental company to perform tests to ensure that it was only mildew that was forming on the interior surface of the ceiling. The company found only mildew growth. No black mold was present or detected.

Repairs are underway. Following the completion of the repairs, the environmental testing company will return and retest to ensure that the issue has been resolved and the area is safe prior to having students and staff in that building.

We fully expect to be able to serve student meals on the first day of school. If not, we have alternate plans in place to serve breakfast and lunch for the first day of school.
